For architects and designers

Design with the trees, not around them.

The cheapest time to solve a tree problem is before the design is fixed. Bring us in early and we'll tell you which trees matter, how much of each tree's root zone the design takes, and what changes if you move a wall or a driveway, in numbers you can design to.

Sound familiar?

  • A design that stalls at DA because of a tree nobody measured.
  • A client who wants the big tree kept, and no clear answer on whether the design allows it.
  • Street trees and neighbours' trees that council protects, even though they're not on your site.

How we handle it

  • Tree survey before design. Health, structure, TPZ-NRZ, life expectancy and landscape value for every tree on and next to the site.
  • Root zone figures for each option. How much of each tree's protected root area the works take, so you can compare layouts.
  • Root investigation where it counts. Root mapping show what's actually in the ground, roots spread, sizes, and surrounding structures.
  • Monitoring of excavations with aims to preserve roots in and around structures.
  • Reports for the DA, then supervision on site once building starts.
  •

In Bellevue Hill, an amended design cut the root area taken from a brush box from 14.4% to 3.5%, and from a fig from 17.9% to 5.9%.

"Brilliant landscaper, horticultural expert and outstanding arborist with a vast knowledge of the urban environment. Highly recommend for complex projects and working with Strata, owners and Builders to achieve sensational results."
