For builders and developers

Keep the tree, keep the program.

A protected tree can hold up a DA, stop an excavation or block certification at the end of the job. We map the roots before the digger arrives, write the tree protection plan, mark every branch that has to go for the rig and scaffold, and check the site through to sign-off. Our own crew does the protection works and the pruning, so nothing falls between two contractors.

Sound familiar?

  • A tree condition on the DA you're not sure you can meet.
  • Roots along the basement line, and no one sure which ones can be cut.
  • Protection that isn't in place when the certifier or council inspector turns up.
  • A consultant who wrote the report and is hard to get back on site.
  • Accidental damages to trees by unknown subcontractors on site.
  • Roots impacted from traffic flow in tree protection zone resulting in trees decline.
  • Site requiring decontamination of toxic materials in soil profiles.
How we handle it
  • Arborist reports for DAs, to the Australian Standard for protecting trees on development sites (AS 4970).
  • Root mapping before excavation. Hand tools aided with Air spade or hydrovac along the dig line, with every root and service recorded.
  • Branch-by-branch pruning plans for piling rigs and scaffold, to the Australian pruning standard (AS 4373).
  • Tree protection installed and checked, with site checks through to certification.
  • Rejuvenation of trees through mulching, fertilisation and use of beneficial funguses and spraying of canopy of trees.
  • Installation and maintainence of irrigation and soil drenching.
  • One team for the plan and the work. A Level 5 consulting arborist plans it; our own supervised crew carries it out.
  • All carried out to a safe work induction methods statement.
  • Fully insured. $20 million public liability, $1 million professional indemnity and workers compensation. Certificates on request.

Fantastic tree work done for us on a tricky retaining wall remediation project in Neutral Bay. William was insightful, flexible in construction practices around tree roots…

Questions builders ask

When do I need an arborist report for a DA?

When trees on the site, on the street or next door could be affected by the works. Your council's DA checklist sets out what it needs, and we can tell you whether a report is required.

Can you be on site when we excavate near a protected tree?

Yes. A Level 5 arborist supervises root exposure and cutting, records what's found and signs off for the certifier.

Can a tree be moved instead of removed?

Sometimes, if it's assessed early enough. Transplanting established trees is part of what our crew does.
